Notes
- Elite soldiers are veterans of combat are essentially battle-hardened foot soldiers - if a foot soldier survives a battle and the result of that battle is a Stalemate, a Minor Victory or a Victory, there is a chance they will become an Elite troop. Elites have a very good cost to effectiveness ratio (the best of all the troops). They do not cost anything to train, but the training cost shown above is their effective training cost for calculating net worth.
- In order to increase the effectiveness of troops, the player also has the choice of incorporating siege engines to counter the defensive bonuses of castles.
- Wine can be employed to give your troops an offensive bonus
- iron can be used to make armour to improve troops defensive capability.
- GC to Maintain is used up even during training.
- The defined food consumption increase is only after training is complete
Networth
The NW numbers above take into account that each Peasant also has a base NW. The training NW is added on top.
The training NW is 1.5 times the gold NW for training + Peasant NW.
So for archers, the cost is 200gc. The gold NW is 0.02. So Archer NW = 1.5 * 0.02 + 0.1 = 0.13 NW
This means that your kingdom will gain 0.5 times the gold NW for training when you start training. Some thing to look for in the NW over time charts.
The trained, ready to use troop NW is 10 times the gold NW for training + Peasant NW.
So for Archers, the cost is 200 GC, which is a NW of 0.2 (10*0.02), is added to the 0.1NW of a peasants for a total NW of 0.3 which is listed in the table.
